Studying and Living in Copenhagen
Copenhagen is a city known for its high quality of life, vibrant culture, and focus on education and sustainability. NBCBC are here to provide you with a world-class education, guide you, and help you settle into life in Denmark.

A New City to Call Home
As the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen is a vibrant European metropolis with a unique blend of old-world charm and modern innovation.
With a population of around 1.5 million, the city is considered one of the most sustainable cities in the world known for its cleanliness, eco-friendly initiatives and renowned bicycling culture.
Get Ready to Experience "Hygge"
While living in Denmark, you’ll quickly discover the Danish concept of “hygge,” which is often credited as one of the main reasons Danes are considered among the happiest people in the world.
Hygge is truly at the heart of Danish culture. Though difficult to define until you experience it, it’s a feeling of warmth, coziness, and togetherness, often shared over food, drinks, games, and, of course, great company.
Most Copenhageners are fluent in English and known for being friendly and helpful. Social interactions are typically relaxed and informal, making it easy to settle in and feel welcomed in your new city.

Face Covering Is Prohibited in Denmark
In Denmark, legislation (Straffeloven § 134 b) prohibits covering or masking the face in public spaces. This law applies to public settings such as streets, public transport, and educational institutions. The law states:
“The one who, in connection with meetings, gatherings, processions, or similar events in public places, has the face completely or partially covered with a hood, mask, face paint, or similar in a manner that prevents identification, shall be punished with a fine or imprisonment of up to 6 months”.
This is particularly relevant for our Muslim students from cultures where wearing the niqab or burka is customary. Please note that these garments are prohibited under Danish law in public spaces. Instead, you might consider wearing a scarf, which allows for facial recognition while adhering to the legislation.
